Hosting Checker

Find who hosts a site and what server it runs.

Combines DNS, reverse DNS, IP registration data and response headers to work out who runs the server.

About the Hosting Checker

Identifies the network hosting a domain by combining reverse DNS, nameserver patterns and the owning organisation of the IP block, then reports the mail provider and any CDN sitting in front.

The result is an informed guess rather than a fact. Resellers, white-label arrangements and CDNs all obscure the real provider, and the accurate answer is often "a CDN in front of something we cannot see from here".

It is still useful for two things: confirming where a site you have inherited actually lives when nobody left documentation, and checking whether a slow site is on shared infrastructure alongside a great many other domains, which is a plausible explanation for a time to first byte that no amount of front-end work improves.

Common questions

Can this tool tell me the exact hosting company for certain?

Not with certainty — it's an informed guess from reverse DNS, nameserver patterns and IP ownership. Resellers, white-label hosting and CDNs all obscure the true underlying provider.

Why does it show a CDN instead of my actual host?

If a CDN like Cloudflare sits in front of your site, the tool sees the CDN's edge network rather than your origin server — which is the CDN doing exactly what it's designed to do.

Is this useful if I already know who hosts my own site?

Mainly for sites you've inherited with no documentation, or to check whether a slow site shares infrastructure with many other domains, which can explain a slow time-to-first-byte.
