About the Open Graph Generator
Open Graph tags decide what a link looks like when someone shares it. Without them, Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Slack each guess — usually by grabbing the first image on the page, which is often a logo or a tracking pixel.
The image requirements are stricter than people expect. Use 1200 by 630 pixels. Below 600 by 315 most platforms drop the banner layout and render a small square thumbnail instead, which takes a fraction of the space in a feed. Use an absolute URL, because relative paths are not resolved by scrapers.
The preview here is an approximation built from the values you enter. Once the page is live, run it through the sharing debugger of whichever platform matters to you — that also clears the platform's cache, which otherwise holds the old preview for days after you fix it.
Common questions
What image size should I actually use?
1200 by 630 pixels. Below roughly 600 by 315, Facebook and LinkedIn drop the wide banner layout and show a small square thumbnail instead.
Why doesn't the shared preview update after I fix my tags?
Platforms cache the scraped preview for days. After publishing corrected tags, run the page through that platform's own sharing debugger — that's what actually clears the cached version.
Is Open Graph the same as a meta description?
No. The meta description is for search results; Open Graph tags control how the link looks when pasted into Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or Slack. A page needs both.
