Schema Markup Generator
JSON-LD for Article, FAQ, Product, Local Business and more.
About the Schema Markup Generator
Structured data tells machines what a page is about in a form they do not have to infer. This builds valid JSON-LD for nine common types without requiring you to write or debug JSON by hand.
JSON-LD is the format Google recommends, and it has a practical advantage over microdata: it sits in one block and does not have to be woven through your HTML, so changing the markup does not mean editing the template.
Two rules apply to every type. Mark up only what is actually visible on the page — describing content a visitor cannot see is a policy violation and a common cause of manual actions. And validate the output before you trust it, because a block that parses correctly is not automatically a block Google will use. The Rich Results Test tells you which of the two you have.
Common questions
Which schema type should I start with?
Article or Organization for most content sites; Product if you sell something; LocalBusiness if you have a physical location. Pick the type that matches what the page is actually about.
Do FAQ rich results still show star ratings or expandable questions in Google?
Since 2023 Google limits FAQ rich results mostly to recognised government and health sites. The markup still helps machines parse the page, but don't expect the visual rich result for a typical business site.
Will adding schema guarantee a rich result?
No. Valid markup makes a page eligible; Google still decides independently whether to show a rich result. Validate the output in the Rich Results Test to confirm it parses, which is a separate question from whether it's used.
