YouTube Tag Extractor
See the tags and metadata a public video declares.
About the YouTube Tag Extractor
Fetches a public video page and reads the tags the uploader set, which are present in the page metadata even though the interface stopped displaying them years ago.
The honest use is competitive research: seeing how the videos already ranking for your topic describe themselves, and whether there is a vocabulary you have been missing. The dishonest use — copying a successful channel's tag list wholesale — does not work, because tags are a minor signal and copying them gives you none of what made that video succeed.
If a video returns no tags, that is a real result rather than an error. Plenty of large channels set none at all, which tells you something about how much they are worth.
Common questions
Why do some videos show no tags at all?
Plenty of large, successful channels set no tags whatsoever — tags are a minor discovery signal, and their absence tells you something about how much weight to give them.
Can I just copy a top-ranking video's tags and expect similar results?
No — tags are one of the smallest ranking factors YouTube uses. Copying them gives you none of what actually drove that video's performance, like watch time, thumbnail and audience retention.
Does this tool download the video itself?
No — it only reads the publicly available metadata embedded in the video's page, the same information visible in the page source, not the video stream.
