CTR & Traffic Calculator
Model the traffic a ranking position is worth.
About the CTR & Traffic Calculator
Works out click-through rate from impressions and clicks, and runs the calculation in reverse so you can see how many impressions a target number of clicks would require at your current rate.
The most useful application is triage in Search Console. A page with high impressions and a low click-through rate is ranking but failing to earn the click, which is a title and description problem. A page with few impressions and a healthy rate has the opposite problem: the snippet works, but nobody is seeing it.
Compare against position rather than against a fixed benchmark. Rates fall steeply with rank, so a rate that looks weak in isolation may be perfectly normal for position eight — and a rate that looks fine at position two is usually leaving clicks on the table.
Common questions
What counts as a 'good' click-through rate?
It depends heavily on ranking position — CTR falls steeply as position drops, so compare your rate against typical rates for your actual position, not a single fixed benchmark.
My page has high impressions but low clicks — what does that mean?
The page is ranking but the title and description aren't earning the click. That's a snippet problem, best fixed with the SERP Snippet Preview and Meta Tag Generator tools.
My page has few impressions but a healthy CTR — what does that mean?
The snippet is working when it's shown, but the page isn't being shown often — that's a visibility or ranking problem, not a snippet problem.
