About the Twitter Card Generator
X still reads the Twitter Card tags, and falls back to Open Graph for anything they do not cover. Generating both takes no extra effort and removes the guesswork.
The card type is the decision that matters. summary_large_image gives a wide banner and takes far more room in a timeline; plain summary gives a small square thumbnail beside the text. For articles and landing pages the large image is almost always the better trade.
Two fields are routinely left empty and should not be: the site handle, which attributes the card to your account, and the image alt text, which is read aloud by screen readers and is the only description some people will get.
Common questions
Do I still need this if I already have Open Graph tags?
X falls back to Open Graph for anything Twitter Card tags don't cover, but setting both removes ambiguity and lets you pick the card type independently.
Summary or summary_large_image — which should I pick?
summary_large_image for almost anything with a real photo or graphic — it takes far more space in a timeline. Plain summary suits a small logo or avatar-style image.
Does the site handle field matter?
Yes — it attributes the card to your X account so readers can find you, and some analytics in X's own dashboard are tied to it.
